Promote Your Dance Studio With A Blog In 2023

Never underestimate a blog that few readers will want to check. Use a blog to promote your dance studio by sharing your values and helpful tips with your dance students.

Gone are the days of using traditional methods of marketing online. Now is the time to use technology in a smart way. Online marketing has seen exponential growth. And with so many options available online, like reels, shorts, special editing effects, and professional cameras on phones, it is like a buffet of visuals for the audience.

Most performers and teachers promote their dance studios by posting and creating attractive dance videos. In fact, the usual methods of marketing are social media, customer referrals, flyers, community outreach, etc. However, there is a conventional marketing medium that has stood the test of time, which is called blogging.

There are many myths surrounding blogging because it is still thought of as only creating an amazing website, posting updates, and providing a contact address.

I have seen many dance websites that tried to experiment with their websites during the pandemic lockdown. With all offline dance studios closed, teachers went online to stay in touch with students and explore online dance classes. It did seem that they managed to survive, but the human interaction was not the same as it was when the students were present in the dance studio.

The lack of live human interaction highlights that, apart from learning dance steps, students also learn different things that cannot be taught in detail in an online class. This gap can be filled by adding a blog to your website.

In this post, you will learn about:

  • Common myths about a dance blog
  • Difference between dance blogs and social media marketing plans
  • What does a dance blog includes?
  • How to curate a dance blog according to your professional priorities?

Common myths about a dance blog

A dance blog is more than an information board with updates about your dance studio. It is like a mini magazine that can include short as well as long-form content. Before going into the details of a dance blog, let me clarify some common myths or doubts about a dance blog.

Blogging is not dead because of ChatGPT and never will be because it works like the personality of the dance teacher and the studio owner, which is individualistic and unique.

A dance blog is not always about long-form writing. It can be interactive for common readers and students who like to know more about movement and methods.

-Investing time in a dance blog is not tedious but can be profitable in the long run

-Dance blog is not exclusively for readers. It provides helpful tips and tricks to improve dance techniques.

-It is easier to coordinate your other social media accounts with your blogging with a fixed weekly schedule.

-There are different types of dance blogs, some of which don’t necessarily have a lot of writing. One important marketing tool that dancers have to attract students is dance photography. It remains on your blog and serves as an important resource for students to discuss your dance studio and share your works.

While no one can deny the instant attraction towards the visual imagery and effects provided by social media, a dance blog is different and, in fact, better than Instagram and TikTok.

-Blogging is used by many established brands that have long-term goals to be successful.

-A dance blog can be a powerful medium for your students to understand the values and priorities of your dance studio.

-A dance blog shows that your dance studio has experienced and expert teachers.

-The written word in a dance blog can be helpful for dance students all over the world

-The importance of SEO and the reach of Google search engines are bigger than you think. When students search for a dance studio in their area, your dance studio will be highlighted not only with social media accounts and a contact address but also with a professional look and a reliable blog.

-Your work as a dance studio manager will get a special boost when students also know about the hard work you are putting in to create a healthy environment in a dance studio.

-A dance blog also highlights in writing the behind-the-scenes hard work of teachers and students.

What does a dance blog include?

A dance blog is an essential part of your dance studio’s website. It should be kept in a separate block from other information and updates about your dance studio. With so much information and knowledge to share, there are topics that all dance blogs like to include.

-Dance techniques

-Discipline in class

-Dancer’s diet

-Dance news

-Dance teacher’s interviews

-Student’s learning and participation experience

How to curate a dance blog according to your professional priorities?

I worked as a content writer for a dance magazine for over two years, and my editor always pushed me to write short-form as well as long-form content.

A short blog post should be 500 words or less, and long-form content should be 1000 words and not more than that.

The dance blog article should not be complex but easy to read and understand

When working as a dance blogger and researching, I realized that every dance magazine has its own personality that they want to present to its audience. Your writing should reflect not just professionalism but also an approachable personality.

Curating your dance blog shouldn’t feel like an added burden. Taking time out for blogging should not disturb your teaching, choreography, performing, or management of a dance studio schedule. You could hire a blogger to update the entire website regularly and with accurate information.

You should include the above-mentioned topics in your dance blogs on a weekly basis.

Save time by instantly noting down all of your interesting dance blog ideas on your mobile device.

Schedule a fixed weekday to research the next dance blog topic.

Blog about one topic per week.

Always post attractive dance photographs of your dance studio, not a borrowed picture from Google or Pinterest.

Keep a separate picture and video gallery of all dance performances that students can easily access.

Your dance blog posts should be downloadable so that students can easily share them on WhatsApp and on their social media accounts with their friends.

Don’t forget to share the link to your dance blog on all your social media accounts.

Join a blogger’s community to find more audiences and students interested in dance-related information.

Conclusion

As a dance studio owner, you are doing a lot of multitasking with a creative team. Including a dance blog on your website works like a reflection of your hard work, professionalism, and expertise. Above all, a dance blog confirms your status as a confident brand that is respected by students and the dance industry.

    1. Blogging has so many benefits but few people realise its importance. Dancers, especially, rely on visual marketing like posting videos and photographs on Instagram and Tik Tok. But if used correctly, a blog can add more value to dance teachers and dance studio owners. Thanks Ryan, for visiting and reading my blog.

      1. Definitely! Others own Tik Tok and IG; we can own our self-hosted blogs if we choose which means unlimited creative control, branding potential and customizing. All help to build a rock solid business foundation.
