Movement and Music: Lindsey Stirling’s Album – Artemis

Lindsey Stirling’s Between Twilight featuring Derek Hough

Lindsey Stirling is one of those rare artists who mesmerises the audience with her multi-talent. One album after another is like a revelation of her numerous hidden talents. Artemis is just another amazing album by dancing violinist, Lindsey Stirling. All her albums have beautiful videography and cinematography.

Lindsey Stirling came to the spotlight when she participated in America’s Got Talent Season 10. Even though she couldn’t win, she definitely caught the audience and judge’s attention with her violin playing skills as well as dancing. As her YouTube subscribers increased, she started getting offers from various artists for collaborations. She has become an artist who has found success through combining her love for dance, her passion for violin, and beautiful videography.

Lindsey released her album Artemis in 2019 as she has always been fascinated by Greek mythology. It is the name of a Greek goddess of the moon, hunting, and chastity. Lindsey chose this name because just like the moon has sometimes darker phases and sometimes lighter ones, so do our lives. She could connect her strengths and weaknesses with the ups and downs faced in life. She further added that

“the album is about Artemis’ battle with Nyx, the goddess of the night, who’s trying to overcome her with shadow and block her out. Artemis for thousands of years has been fighting this battle alone. So sometimes I just have to fight, like the moon, to find my light again.”

The song “Between Twilight”, featuring amazing dancer and choreographer Derek Hough, presents Artemis and Orion falling in love. As the fantastical glow dances around Artemis, who is playing the violin in the dark, it drifts her along the path to meet Orion. Their dance is beautifully choreographed, almost taking us to another world. The videography and costumes superbly match and magnify the anime character of Artemis.

The inspiration for the videos of the Artemis album came from a comic book that Lindsey created as the music continued to become popular.
